 The International Aids conference kicked off in Washington DC,on the 22^nd  July 2012 with the aim of Stemming HIV Spread. Kenya being one of the countries mentioned by the UN agency as being on track to meet the 2015 goal of eliminating new Hiv infections among children and keeping their mothers alive.

 As life expectancy move on the rise in Kenya we can only hope that there will be no more stigmatization on those infected with HIV, but rather an inviting embrace that will allow them to live into old age, just like the rest of us.

 The conference highlights a very Important theme which brings in mind an infected mother who is living in disbelief  that her 3 year old daughter is also infected with this incurable disease,  I am hoping that we will not take it that HIV has already been exhausted in Kenya, but rather continue with the campaign especially in slum areas and focus on how infected mothers can feed their children without necessarily giving them breast milk. Treating infected pregnant women will prevent them from spreading the virus to their babies.

The government should also make the funded treatment accessible to these infected mothers to avoid further spread of this deadly disease.

 "Future generations are counting on our courage to think big, be bold and seize the opportunity before us," said Dr. Diane Havlir of the University of California, San Francisco, a co-chair of the International AIDS Conference.
